November 2025

Here we are November!!  Welcome blustery weather, darker late afternoons, and the anticipation of all the upcoming holiday events.  We will begin some seasonal music work in the studio to add to the anticipation.  I will be out of the studio November 7 through November 10 to support the WSMTA/MTNA Performance competitions in Ellensburg.  So much music...keep practicing!!  Reminder--the studio will be closed November 25 through November 28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

October 2025

It is with surprise and humbleness that I share that I have been nominated as one of WSMTA's MTNA Foundation Fellows for 2026 (see the link here).  I feel doubly honored as 2026 is MTNA's 150th anniversary, so it will be a wonderful celebration.  Funds raised for the MTNA Foundation support the creation, performance, study and teaching of music.  I am very honored to be recognized in this way by my colleagues in the WA State Music Teachers Association.

September 2025

Fall Lessons start September 16th--get those fingers practicing and gear up for some new fall music!  I will be attending WSMTA Leadership September 20--September 21 learning all about any changes in WSMTA student and teacher events for 20205!

August 2025

Last day of summer lessons is August 29th.  Studio will be closed September 1--September 15 for Labor Day and back to school break.

Once again the WSMTA Conference held at the end of June was inspiring and energizing!  It was three very full days of workshops, recitals and connections with colleagues from around the state, the nation and the world.  I was fortunate enough to enjoy our state banquet with a new colleague friend from Australia!  WSMTA was also honored to have our new MTNA CEO in attendence.  Guest artists Artina (piano) and Martin (bass trombone) McCain shared their inspiring musical journey.  A new work by Nicole Buetti for two bassoons and contrabassoon was premiered.  Duo Cascadia with Jensina Oliver and Kay Zavislak, Washington state's piano duo extraordinaire, was featured on the Chamber Music concert.  And of course the five student honors recitals were amazing!  Smiles were everywhere including on the faces of 8 past presidents of WSMTA as we welcomed the new 2025-2027 WSMTA president on the far left in the picture above!
